Digital Aerial UK – Do I Really Need One?
This is a common question asked by lots of people all over the uk.
Rogue traders did a show about Digital Aerials and what they claim is that all aerials will be ok for digital.
He is totally wrong in that presumption and here is why.
First, if you have an existing aerial at your property and it was fitted years ago its more than likely going to need to be changed because its more than likely not going to pull in the muxes for your new digital set.
Their are six digital muxes for digital aerial in birmingham. If you are having an aerial installation in birmingham done you have to get all these muxes through that aerial.
When the aerial is tested eighty percent of the time some of the muxes are quite low below 45 db. The CAI reccomends at least 45 for an optimal picture so bearing this in mind take a look at this.
This shows that the levels are not high enough to be able run the tv correctly. The muxes for digital are 41, 44, 47, 51, 52, 55 with mux 55 been the worst to pick up through an old anologue or grouped aerial. I have attended a lot of properties in birmingham with this problem and replaced the aerial and thus rectifying the problem.
It’s even worse if you are running three or four tvs in your home and most people are these days.
My advice is get your exisiting aerial checked by a competant engineer using a digital signal meter and then you will be able find out exactly what is needed to rectify your problem. More than likely you will need a Digital Aerial UK to recieve the correct signal for your new tv or freeview box.
I hope this gives you a better understanding of this problem. If you need any help please leave you comments here or give me a call at 0121 314 2777.
