Birmingham switches over in September 2011, but most people are switching over now.
Most aerials will work with digital but muxes 51,52,55 may drop off with older aerial. If you are running more than one TV, you will probably need to change your existing loft aerial or chimney aerial to achieve the correct signal to each TV in your property.
A proper meter test will be able to tell you the exact signal you have from your existing aerial.
Aerial installations in birmingham are pretty straightforward. Our engineer will arrive at your property and check your signal levels He will then advise you on which will be the best method for you and explain exactly how the installation process works.
A standard install to one TV shouldnt take longer than hour .We will also tune in your TV’s and give you a demonstration on the new functions of the TV and how to obtain optimum performance from it.
If you are having signal problems or are interested in switching over now we will check your aerial for free.

so i got to thinking how to get work through google through the organic searches surely their is a way to do this well there is but no one seems to want to explain how to go about it or how to get to your destination my site, well blog know comes first page for the search specific to aerial installation birmingham and yes i get work from it also because my site is ranking high so is my map listing so i also come second on the maps i started this site in april and it has taken me about 3 months for it to get first page which im really happy with i get plenty of comments on here a lot of spam but most of all it isnt costing me nothing to achieve this seo is for ever,i paid out arounf £2500 on advertising last year but this year it has reduced by around £2000 so that is a massive saving plus i get a steady stream of work through my site which is great its also optimised for iphones, androind phones etc so it can be viewed easily,i had a customer contact me yesterday after finding me through his iphone which is great, why pay out thousands to yell.com and yellow pages your throwing your money away invest in your future not paper, you have to move with the times if you dont you may get left behind.so if i can do this anyone can with a little know how.

so as we all know 3d is the latest offering by sony, its pushing the tvs hard and updates for the ps3 through the network and with ps3 move coming out this september it will add a different take on games in the future.a lot of people feel that 3d is just a gimmick or is it will it rock our world im a gaming fan have been ever since manic miner so for me it seems kind of exciting that this tech is available right know from the ps3 network if you have a 3d tv either from sony or one of the other major tv brands,i havent tried it yet the only 3d i have seen was avatar at the imax cinema here in birmingham uk.i have read several reviews on peoples experience with it,playing killzone 3 in 3d is supposed to be amazing but at this moment in time it is very very expensive i think for it to go main stream it needs a serious price drop, the tvs are around £1800 plus you need the glasses and a transmitter for the glasses what are sony on lol,do they even realise that there is a ressesion on, no i dont think they do.
so will i bet getting one i certainly will im hoping that by the time killzone 3 comes out next year that the have dropped considerable because if its anything close to the avatar film im sold.but obviously they reckon that millions wont be even able to see this tech because of poor eye sight which is bad if you one who can not see it but for those that can i feel that it holds the key to better immersion in games and better viewing for films in your home when 3d blue ray arrives.
so as you are aware mux 34 is very low please see my other post (aerial installation birmingham great barr b44)
well solution to fix this would be to fit a group a aerial which covers channels 30-36 you could use this A group aerial for your hd only amplify it,then combine with a wideband aerial for your digital signal.
or simply buy one of the new televes hd aerials not sure how good these are but will be trying one very soon no dought ,it has an intelligent adjusting balun/amplifier built in and adjusts the signal automatically so look out for that review, hope this helps.
i did a job in great barr b44 on saturday 12.6.10.the gentleman wanted four points one to each bedroom and the lounge all connecting up,so i fitted the aerial to the chimney with a 6ft pole tested the signal muxes 41,44,47,51,52,55 were all above 60 db so your thinking thats great well no it wasnt, heres why.
i then tested for mux 34 which comes from lichfield for the HD channels as he had brought a hd recorder and wanted channels 50,51,52 working heres the problem after checking the mux it was at 35 db considerably lower than the digital signal so i fitted the aerial run all the cables but after fitting a four way splitter the hd was breaking up,but the freeview was all working ok.
i couldnt fit an amp in the loft because it would make the signal to high and would overload the freeview tuners so after chatting with the customer we decided to connect the aerial on the roof to the main tv and connect to the hd box, then the other three bedrooms we connected to an exisitng aerial in the loft to obtain the freeview for his bedrooms.
but this posed the question of what if he wanted to get an hd box for the bedrooms it wouldnt work because the signal would be to low for mux 34,so if your thinking of buying a hd freeview box make sure you get your aerial checked before buying to see if you can pick up the channels this will cause quite a few problems in the future until they move it over to sutton coldfield as the mux is really low indeed let me know if you have experienced anything similar.
i have an installation in sutton coldfield birmingham, basically the customer has four sky boxes and one german satellite box which he is having trouble with the signal,so i have advised him to completely start from scratch the wiring in the loft of the property is a complete mess he also has cctv running through the system all the cabling needs to be removed and everything needs to be updated including the digital aerial which is in the loft, the cabling outside is all over the place so i will be tidying up all these cables and re routing them through the loft space fixing the cables to the beams and hiding them behind drain pipes also we will fix the aerial rig outside with the two dishes on the same pole one for sky and one for the german channels of which we will be using a techomate satellite reciever,we will also be changing all the sockets and cabling to each sky box and fitting new ones.
it will probably have a ten foot pole one large chimney bracket,or 2 9×9s and one tmm switch into loft mounted on a board fixed to the beams in the loft,we will be using the crimp type connectors to each connection and will be running two extra points for a sky hd in the back living room.
when fitting aerial installations in sutton coldfield you may find the aerial signal is too high so fitting an attenuator is common,i will be posting a few pictures of the before and after to show the work also maybe a video on this if you live in and around suttton coldfield area and need some proffesional advice give me a call
or fill in the form on the site and check back for those videos.
Thought i would just post this out to people in birmingham their is a new mux for freeview hd
There is a new mux available for all aerial installations Birmingham and surrounding areas from the lichfield mast which is mux 34 with this mux you can know pick up the hd channels,bbc1 itv and channel four you will need a receiver to be able to get these channels in hd ,a humax receiver is £150 as of writing this post 12.4.2010, please watch the video below for brief explanation of it using a televes hd 45 signal meter if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me on the number above or a reply on the blog kind regards Brian…
please note you cannot get these hd channels with your existing tv you need a freeview hd decoder box, even though your tvs are hd ready, their will be new tvs out with built in freeview hd but they are not available at the moment in the uk.
i may do a video review of the humax box soon so check back for updates.
if you are thinking of getting a sky installation done make sure you know exactly what the engineer will be doing to your property were the cable will be running and exact cost this is a must, first of make sure the cabling goes as you want it in your home not how he does because hes running late on his jobs ,remember its your home and you should be telling him how you want the cables run,If he cant run the cables as you want them then get someone who will, get a second opinion on this you will be suprised at how different the engineers are.
All to often customers get shabby work done,i was at a job today were black cabling was put on the outside of a brand new house that was rendered white it looked a mess also when i looked at the cabling they had drilled through the front of the house and the sky box was at the back and left the cable on the floor all the way across the lounge i had to remove the cabling and re route it through the loft and out the back down the wall and into the back of the sky hd box.
This is a common thing for me when doing sky installations trying to make good bad workmanship from other engineers who couldn’t careless attitude,if you have any sky installation done make sure you know how the work will be done so you get the job done right the first time,it will be less expensive for you this way.
Are you looking to have sky installed,we can offer you a free site survey for all your sky needs we can advise you on the best route for installing the cabling from the dish to the lounge or bedroom,do you need to watch sky all over the house we can also advise on this and even watching it in hd in other rooms too without the need for a separate box.
All our sky installations are done to a high standard we wont blow big holes in your brickwork like some engineers. we will try to drill from outside in to decrease this problem we don’t use brown caps to cover big holes in your brickwork and we always clean up after we have been to your property.
have you had a bad experience with a sky installation you want to share then leave a comment thank you, which is at the bottom of this page thank you.
Are you experiencing break up on your tv maybe its pixelating(littles blocky squares on your picture)this is all due to your digital signal that you have coming in from the main aerial either on your roof or in the loft, their are a number of causes which will not help your digital signal one being location,if your picture is breaking up and your aerial is in the loft its more than likely needs to be put outside either on the chimney or fixed to a gable end or apex.
If it is already on the roof it maybe that the aerial is well past its sell by date and needs to be replaced it may have been up there for several years and quite worn, the digital signal that you have comning in to your tv (flat screen )should be atleast 45db and no mre than 60db if it is higher this also causes break up of the picture and can cross modulate the signal being processed a proper meter test will determine this for you, have a look at this video here to see what the digital signal looks like on an aerial installation in birmingham click here the digital signal needs to be at the correct levels to get the optimal picture quality for your tv,with out the proper equipment it is just hit and miss to be able to get all the muxes correct for digital.
This is a common question asked by lots of people all over the uk.
Rogue traders did a show about Digital Aerials and what they claim is that all aerials will be ok for digital.
He is totally wrong in that presumption and here is why.
First, if you have an existing aerial at your property and it was fitted years ago its more than likely going to need to be changed because its more than likely not going to pull in the muxes for your new digital set.
Their are six digital muxes for digital aerial in birmingham. If you are having an aerial installation in birmingham done you have to get all these muxes through that aerial.
When the aerial is tested eighty percent of the time some of the muxes are quite low below 45 db. The CAI reccomends at least 45 for an optimal picture so bearing this in mind take a look at this.
This shows that the levels are not high enough to be able run the tv correctly. The muxes for digital are 41, 44, 47, 51, 52, 55 with mux 55 been the worst to pick up through an old anologue or grouped aerial. I have attended a lot of properties in birmingham with this problem and replaced the aerial and thus rectifying the problem.
It’s even worse if you are running three or four tvs in your home and most people are these days.
My advice is get your exisiting aerial checked by a competant engineer using a digital signal meter and then you will be able find out exactly what is needed to rectify your problem. More than likely you will need a Digital Aerial UK to recieve the correct signal for your new tv or freeview box.
I hope this gives you a better understanding of this problem. If you need any help please leave you comments here or give me a call at 0121 314 2777.
